Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’s Kelli Giddish hinted at trouble as Rollins doubted both new Chief Kathryn Tynan and new detective Jake Griffin.
Speaking about her character during an interview with TV Insider on January 23, 2026, Giddish revealed that Rollins was wary of the new additions to the SVU squad this season.
She explained that Rollins kept a close watch on both Chief Kathryn Tynan and Detective Jake Griffin, unsure of their intentions and suspicious of how their presence could change the team’s dynamics.
Season 27 brought several shifts to the unit, including the arrival of Tynan, who wanted Captain Olivia Benson to move to a new post.
In addition to Tynan came Griffin, who had a history with the chief and had been asked to review old cases.
Giddish revealed that her character, Rollins, became cautious as soon as the two new members entered the unit. Consequently, she watched their moves, hoping to catch any potential influence they had.
She further mentioned that the season explored Rollins’ evolving partnership with Captain Renee Curry and the challenges that came from integrating new personalities into the squad.
Here’s everything Kelli Giddish said about her character Rollins’ opinions of the new arrivals on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
Giddish did not hesitate to tease that her character was not a fan of the newcomers. While speaking to TV Insider, she spoke on behalf of Rollins, sharing her honest opinion of Tynan.
“I don’t like her. I’m so suspicious of her and it’s like a tidal wave coming and she can’t stop it. I don’t think she likes that feeling one bit,” she said.
Rollins’ distrust of the chief directly highlighted how the new leadership shook up the established team dynamics.
It was also an indication that viewers could see tension escalating as a result of Rollins’ suspicions regarding Tynan.
Her thoughts about Griffin were not any better. Just as she disliked Tynan, she felt apprehensive about Griffin, who not only had history with Tynan, but was also asked to look into old cases.
Giddish expressed that Rollins knew that Tynan and Griffin’s shared past would gradually affect the working system within the unit.
“I think she’s got one eye on him, but I think he’s part of the team and she very much accepts them as that,” Giddish said of Rollins.
She added:
“But I think if he makes a comment that would otherwise be dismissed, she kind of clocks it … if it kind of rubs her the wrong way or something like that. I don’t think she’s holding his feet to the fire about it, but I think she definitely clocks it and remembers things.”
That said, Giddish also expressed excitement about Rollins’ partnership with Captain Renee Curry.
She said that it was “so fun” being Curry’s partner, and teased that in the subsequent episodes, viewers would get to see Rollins act in a way that would be out of her character.
The season would showcase her as an individual, someone beyond just her detective personality.
Looking ahead, Giddish shared that the remaining episodes promised high drama.
“We’re going into this really, really strong script right now. I’m shooting the creepiest scene. It’s another one-on-one scene. I’m shooting that next week, and I’m so looking forward to it. And just the whole script is so strong and I couldn’t put it down when I was reading it. I couldn’t put it down and it gave me chills,” she said.
That said, Giddish added that she looked forward to “finishing the season strong,” admitting that she had a great time playing Rollins.
