Taylor Sheridan’s ‘The Madison’: Everything We Know About 2026’s ‘Yellowstone’ Spin-off
Not one, but two highly anticipated Yellowstone spin-offs are poised to premiere in March 2026. The first is Y: Marshals on CBS, followed by Paramount+’s The Madison, a contemporary neo-Western that marks the fifth TV series in the overarching Yellowstone franchise created by Taylor Sheridan. While some fans have voiced concern about the former moving to a broad cable network, the latter remains on the streaming platform that Sheridan helped put on the map in 2018.
With the newest trailer for The Madison released in late January 2026, it’s time to break down the show’s hooking premise, superb cast of Oscar-caliber talent, episode count, the director involved, release date, filming locations, and every other pertinent tidbit we can round up about the latest chapter in the Yellowstone saga. Saddle up, here’s everything known about The Madison thus far.
‘The Madison’ is Set to Premiere in March 2026
After filming Season 1 between August and December 2024 in New York, Montana, Dallas, and Fort Worth, Season 2 of The Madison has also wrapped principal photography. The second season was filmed between September and December 2025, leaving over one year to edit the inaugural season for a March 2026 premiere on Paramount+. It also means that Season 2 is likely to air later in 2026.
With the finishing touches set in place, The Madison is poised to premiere on Paramount+ on March 14, 2026. Although the release schedule has yet to be confirmed, based on Paramount+’s streaming history, new episodes are expected to be released weekly rather than all at once.
‘The Madison’ is Already Confirmed for Season 2
Development on The Madison began in May 2023, when Paramount+ announced it had greenlit an untitled Yellowstone spin-off from series creator Taylor Sheridan. Produced alongside MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Sheridan’s production company Bosque Ranch Productions, the series was given the title The Madison in August 2024.
One year later, in August 2025, MTV Entertainment Studios’ parent company, Paramount Global, merged with Skydance Media to form Paramount Global Media, now known as Paramount Skydance. Following the merger, Paramount Television Studios took the reins of The Madison and announced that the neo-Western spin-off had already been renewed for Season 2. Therefore, while Sheridan’s contract with Paramount will expire in 2028, The Madison is here to stay for at least two seasons under Sheridan’s purview.
What Will ‘The Madison’ Be About?
Although Yellowstone and its spin-offs have charted the evolution of the Dutton family and its Montana cattle ranch, The Madison will follow an entirely different, unrelated family. This time, the drama centers on the Clyburns, a family from New York who retreat to rural southwest Montana following a devastating family tragedy that necessitates a therapeutic change of scenery.
In an attempt to flee their bustling New York City lives marred by an unspeakable loss, The Madison is about finding solace and a healing path in the awesome power of nature. Season 1 will consist of six episodes, all of which are directed by franchise alum Christina Alexandra Voros (Yellowstone, 1883). As expected, Taylor Sheridan wrote the pilot.
‘The Madison’ Cast
Boasting arguably the finest cast in franchise history, The Madison stars the great Michelle Pfeiffer (Scarface) and Kurt Russell (The Thing) as Stacy and Preston Clyburn. Pfeiffer is a thrice-Oscar-nominated powerhouse who has worked with some of the greatest actors ever. Meanwhile, Russell is a national treasure whose relatable sense of Americana is perfectly suited to a Sheridan project.
