Spoiler: Fans predict major Yellowstone death in new spin-off trailer – but that’s not the only haunting detail
The countdown is on for Yellowstone spin-off series Marshals to premiere.
But as the official trailer has been released, fans have noticed the absence of one particular Dutton, with a major death becoming the central plot for the new series.
In first look shared by Paramount+ on Instagram, Luke Grimes returns as Kayce Dutton, alone, waking up from a haunting nightmare.

“The only thing I ever wanted was taken from me,” says Kayce.
Yellowstone‘s explosive finale saw the death of Kayce’s father John Dutton (Kevin Costner), this scene shows Kayce and son Tate (Brecken Merrill) tearfully watching a body being covered up at home.
What follows has fans believing that body belongs to Kayce’s wife Monica Dutton, played by Kelsey Asbille.

With his own “demons to conquer” the trailer follows Kayce’s decision to join an elite unit of U.S. Marshals.
Cue a gravestone visit and Kayce’s chilling words: “Yellowstone is gone, same for most of my family.”
Kayce does appear, grieving, with a woman who could be Monica. But without her face in the trailer and an official confirmation of her return, fans believe it could be a flashback scene.
“Where is Monica????” multiple fans commented under the official trailer.
“So I’m assuming they kill off Monica to grow Casey’s character because she didn’t want him to go back to the gunslinger ways,” one fan shared their theory.

Including some unseen behind-the-scenes images.
“Damn! Monica died!?!?!?!” a third fan commented.
Just as another fan reacted to the trailer: “Ya’ll took out Monica? Well… time for unhinged Kayce to make a return. And I’m HERE for it.”
Although one fan wasn’t particularly happy, writing: “If they kill off monica thats just dumb” as other fans argued it would be the only way Kayce would join the Marshals in the first place.
Fans spot second haunting detail
Along with the return and likely alliance of Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) to the sequel series, fans spotted another chilling detail in the trailer.
“1:18 The Train Station!!!! 100 years of secrets at rise,” one viewer pointed out.
Of course the ‘Train Station’ is where the Dutton’s enemies go to die. Will the Marshals uncover decades of Dutton family secrets?
Marshals is set to premiere March 2026 on Paramount+.
