‘Yellowstone’s Most Exciting Spin-Off Series Reveals Key Plot With New Images
The next chapter of the Yellowstone saga begins to unfold soon, and CBS has a sneak peek. Luke Grimes stars in the new show Marshals, which premieres on CBS on Sunday, March 1. It’s a grittier affair as Kayce Dutton leaves the ranching world behind for law enforcement. CBS has released new images from the upcoming series, teasing a faster-paced, action-packed series. They preview Grimes returning to the saddle as Kayce with his new crew. He remains close to his Yellowstone friends, including Rainwater (Gil Birmingham), and comes to their aid when a problem arises on the reservation. You can check out the images below.
In Marshals, the youngest Dutton sibling is ready for a new adventure. “With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Dutton joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana. Kayce and his teammates – Pete Calvin (Logan Marshall-Green), Belle Skinner (Arielle Kebbel), Andrea Cruz (Ash Santos) and Miles Kittle (Tatanka Means) – must balance the high psychological cost of serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence with their duty to their families, which for Kayce includes his son Tate (Brecken Merrill) and his confidantes Mo (Mo Brings Plenty) and Thomas Rainwater from the Broken Rock reservation,” the show’s official description reads. In the series premiere, “Piya Wiconi,” the team hits the ground running according to the logline below.
“Kayce Dutton reunites with an old SEAL teammate and aids his Marshal unit in hunting down a bomber targeting Broken Rock Reservation. The trail leads to a dangerous encounter with an armed anti-government militia.”
‘Marshals’ Trailer Hints at a Major Death
It’s not all sunshine and flowers for Kayce, if the recently released trailer is to be believed. It hints that Kayce’s wife, Monica (Kelly Asbille), is dead, but the cause is unclear. Her absence from the trailer and Asbille’s name from the cast list all but confirms this fear. It’s also unclear how this loss is connected to Kayce’s new career, if at all. Will he be able to balance the demanding job with raising a teenage son alone? Spencer Hudnut is an executive producer and showrunner of Marshals, who played a great part in getting Grimes back to play Kayce. Other executive producers include Grimes, Taylor Sheridan, David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, and Bob Yari.
Marshals premieres on CBS on Sunday, March 1. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
