- Vernon delivers Bill a brutal reminder of where he truly stands with the Duprees.
- Ted and Shanice could share unexpected chemistry after getting stuck in an elevator.
Next Week on Beyond the Gates
Reputation to Protect
Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) wanted a bigger seat at the table, and as a result, Joey (Jon Lindstrom) gave her the run of his escort business. The woman is always so confident and cool…until someone judges or criticizes her business acumen. Then she bites back. And that’s what happens next week on BTG.
“I called that number you gave us,” said one of two members of the Fairmont Crest Country Club set who look a lot like Real Housewives of Potomac cast mates, Gizelle Bryant and Wendy Osefo. This interaction prompts Dani (Karla Mosley) to question Vanessa’s business strategy, leading to a tense exchange.
Dani: You’re seeking customers at the country club?
Vanessa: I resent being characterized as a pimp.
Dani: Okay. Madam.
The Joey Factor
With Martin (Brandon Claybon) about to enter reelection mode, he must consider the potential red flags that could harm his campaign. One of those things is Joey Armstrong, who has leverage over Martin. “Joey is a dangerous man. He has me right where he wants me,” the congressman once again admits to his husband. According to the weekly spoilers, Smitty (Mike Manning) will confront Joey in order to protect Martin.
Vernon Versus Bill

Meanwhile, Vernon (Clifton Davis) and Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) have words, which is not ideal for Bill. After all, he still misses being accepted by the Duprees. Even with his status as the family’s fixer, they no longer treat him as one of their own. “You knew the consequences before you chose what you wrought,” Vernon reminds Bill. What triggers this latest battle?
Cousins Chat

Randy (Maurice P. Kerry) and Hayley (Marquita Goings) meet up for what will probably be an update and strategy session. But Randy can tell that his cuz is upset. Perhaps it has to do with Bill’s inability to sever ties with the Dupree family. “Any particular reason you’re tripping with no map?” he asks. “Yes. And you know just who it is,” Hayley responds.
Vanessa Vents
Later, Vanessa full-on vents to Joey about what transpired earlier at the club. She sounds fed up and livid. “I told you over and over that I don’t give a damn about their opinions. What is it, Joey?” she screams.
Little by little, Vanessa is isolating herself in this dark, new world. Is she ready for this? Because Joey’s used to the darkness and the loneliness that comes with the choices he has made and the life that he lives.
Elsewhere in the DMV
In other news, Izaiah (David Lami Friebe) and Eva (Ambyr Michelle) are growing closer and closer. In the BTG sneak peek, the two, once again, connect on a romantic level when they kiss. “Feels like I’m wrapped in a dream,” Eva gushes.

It’s a Hamilton family outing. Not sure why Bill, Dani, Naomi (Arielle Prepetit), and Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) all find themselves together, but there they are at the club sharing a drink. This family quality time might be courtesy of the sisters. “Did our daughters inherit their complete lack of subtlety from you or from me?” Dani wonders. “Definitely, you,” Bill replies.
Finally, sparks could fly after Ted (Keith D. Robinson) and Shanice (Ernestine Johnson) find themselves stuck in one of the elevators at the hospital. “Ted, this elevator is cursed,” Shanice complains. A potential pairing between Shanice and Ted has been alluded to in a recent holiday preview. Could this be where it starts?
