EastEnders spoilers: Anthony’s cause of death as killer revealed and Patrick grieves

New spoilers have shared a sad and tense fallout to Anthony Trueman’s death on EastEnders.

The character was brutally killed off in a shocking twist on Christmas Day, with Zoe Slater in the frame. Zoe was led away by police after Kat Moon found Anthony dead beside her, while Zoe had also been knocked out.

Zoe and Anthony had fought, and when Zoe came round after hitting her head, she had no recollection of how Anthony died. Of course a showdown with Chrissie Watts and the reveal that Jasmine is her daughter then followed, leading to revelations.

With Zoe led away by police, Boxing Day saw Jasmine tell her grandmother Kat that it was Chrissie who killed Anthony. Kat made the same realisation, and knew Chrissie was framing Zoe for the crime.

In the next episode, Zoe remains at the police station, while there is news about Anthony’s potential cause of death. With Zoe begging Kat not to go after Chrissie, it seems her involvement may be under wraps.

Lawyer Ritchie Scott is called in for a favour by Phil Mitchell, Kat’s ex, and she updates Zoe on the situation. It’s revealed that Anthony suffered two injuries, and Chrissie could have been the culprit.

Zoe fears that if Chrissie is found she will frame Jasmine for the crime, and she tells Kat to leave things. But as Anthony’s grieving father Patrick Trueman demands answers, there’s soon a confrontation.

He wants the truth from those investigating Anthony’s murder, but fails to get anywhere and so instead he heads to the station. He gets nowhere there either, and soon enough he rocks up at Kat’s house to confront her, but what will she say?

The next day, Kat panics as she’s running out of time to find Chrissie, wanting the real murderer to be found and for Zoe to be freed. But there’s more drama as Jasmine gets offended when she jumps to the wrong conclusion with Kat, and flees.

Feeling as though she has no one to turn to, Jasmine finally confides her true identity to Oscar Branning, and he encourages her to speak to Patrick, but things don’t go as expected. So will Jasmine stick around, and will Chrissie be found?

Does Zoe face time behind bars, and what really happened to Anthony? The spoiler about two injuries is intriguing, but fans will have to tune in next week to find out what they are.

Actor Nick Bailey, who plays the tragic character, shared his sadness to be leaving the soap. He said: “I was sad things were coming to an end, but I wanted to lean into the excitement of this story being a launch pad for some incredible stuff heading into 2026.”
