The actress, who portrays Eve Panesar-Unwin on the BBC soap and made her debut in 2021, quickly found herself at the heart of some major Albert Square storylines.

Off-screen, Heather is married to Ellie Dickinson, and together they have three beautiful daughters; Annie Mary, born in April 2015, and twins Jessie and Lola, who arrived in June 2017.

However, this year, Heather revealed that both she and her wife had been fighting breast cancer. In July, Heather announced that she had undergone chemotherapy and surgery since her diagnosis in October the previous year.

A few months later, Heather shared that Ellie had also received the same cancer diagnosis earlier in the year. But now, Heather has shared some uplifting news with fans, revealing that the family have welcomed a new member, an adorable dog named Oti, reports the Mirror.

On Friday (December 26), Heather posted a sweet video on her Instagram of her daughters reading a letter about their new puppy, before meeting their new four-legged sibling for the first time.

In the caption, Heather explained: “A decision we’ve been discussing since our dog Bungle passed away three years ago. Six weeks ago I noticed @elliepeace01 googling dog breeds for days on end. I pretended I hadn’t seen her. She’s the responsible one who considers deeply.

“She was ready and had done the research and chosen the little fella. “23rd December and we told the kids Ellie was off to her pals in London when she was indeed heading up the M6 to stay in a hotel and pick up our new family member, Otis, on Xmas Eve. We’re so excited to welcome him into our family after a very difficult couple of years.

Our girls have begged us for another dog and now felt like the right time. “”This little fella is half shitzu/dachshound cross. A schweenie!! Ellie was tempted to call him Todd But this is Otis. He’s settled in so well and the girls are walking on clouds right now.”

Heather’s supporters flooded the comments section to celebrate the wonderful news. One fan gushed: “Oh what a cutie he is! Congratulations on the newest member of your beautiful family! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas. “

Another commented: “What a beautiful way to tell the girls! They’ll treasure that memory forever. Welcome to your new family, Otis! You’re going to be SO loved. Merry Christmas, Peace family! A third wrote: “Beautiful addition to a beautiful family.”.
