Jaden Lucas Miller Says Faith Guided Him to ‘Beyond the Gates’ Role

In a new Instagram post, actor Jaden Lucas Miller reflected on the moment he learned he had booked his breakout role as Tyrell Richardson on CBS’ new daytime drama Beyond the Gates. Miller said he first received the news a year ago, calling it a life-changing milestone in his career.

Miller shared the acting reel that helped him land the role and wrote about the experience in the caption of his Instagram post. “A year ago today, I received the call that changed my life,” he wrote. “The call telling me I booked the role of Tyrell Richardson on the biggest Black soap opera to debut in the last 25 years: Beyond The Gates.”

Miller wrote that joining the new series felt like a milestone, “Not only did I make history… but the journey leading up to this moment was nothing but divine alignment.”

He also credited his mother for encouraging him to pursue daytime television roles. “In 2023, my mom called me into her room. She said, ‘J, I think you need to be on a soap opera,’” Miller recalled.

According to Miller, he wasn’t familiar with soap operas at the time. “She started telling me stories about legendary soap actors,” he said. “Showing me clips, educating me like only a mom with a vision can. Then she said, ‘I’m going to call your agent and ask them to start submitting you for soap roles.’”

Miller said his first audition wasn’t for Beyond the Gates but for ABC’s General Hospital. “I didn’t book it,” he wrote, adding that he believed “God was already preparing something bigger.”

He continued the story in his Instagram post, recalling the moment everything changed. “Then came November 3rd,” Miller said. “I was in class when my mom called me — excited, almost breathless. She said, “J, they’re launching a Black soap opera, and you will play Tyrell.”

Miller said he initially questioned how the offer came about. “I remember saying, Mom… ‘I didn’t even audition. How is that possible?’” he wrote. According to Miller, his mother replied, “This role was created for you. God heard my prayers — He told me it was coming.”

Reflecting on the past year, Miller added, “And here we are — one year later — standing in that answered prayer, walking in purpose, breathing in a blessing that was written long before I knew to dream it.”

He closed his post by thanking fans and supporters. “Today, I stand as Tyrell Richardson on Beyond the Gates, not just as an actor, but as proof that faith, preparation, and persistence move mountains,” he wrote. “We prayed. We worked. We believed. And this is the result. God did it — and this is only the beginning.”
