Real life soap couple announce they’re engaged after falling in love on set
A REAL life soap couple have announced they’re engaged after falling in love on set.

Home and Away star Sophie Dillman, 32, confirmed the exciting news and shared sweet snaps of her co-star Patrick O’Connor’s tender proposal.
In one snap Patrick, 33, is seen down on one knee as he proposed to Sophie on a beautiful Sydney beach.
Another sweet picture captured the newly engaged couple kissing as waves lapped at their feet and the sun set behind them.
Sophie also flashed a photo of her stunning diamond engagement ring, featuring a huge sparkler enclosed in a stylish gold band.
Sophie captioned the gallery with some touching words: “Home has always been with you.”
Fans rushed to congratulate the happy couple and some of their celebrity friends also offered their well wishes.
Georgie Parker wrote: “Oh sweethearts, huge love to both of you. Could NOT be happier for you.”
Sarah Roberts said: “OMG so excited for you both!! Love you both xx.”
Soap veteran Lynne McGranger added: “Loads of love to you both! How wonderful.”
Meanwhile, on his own Instagram post, Patrick wrote: “Not all treasure is silver and gold mate. Soph, I love you in this life, the next and forever.”
The former Home and Away stars started dating after their characters, Ziggy Astoni and Dean Thompson, became a couple on the soap opera.
Sophie previously told The Daily Telegraph. that their relationship worked because they “were really good friends first” – and now it meant she gets to “hang out with [her] best mate all the time, which is such a blessing.
“Our characters got together – and then we did.

“We spend every waking minute together, but it’s really lucky because we were really good friends first.”
She explained that the couple never take their “arguments home or to work”, especially now that the characters have split up on-screen.
Sophie added: “When we’re at home, we’re Paddy and Sophie. At work, we’re Ziggy and Dean.
“I find when you sit in the make-up chair for an hour and you have your hair and make-up done – which is something I don’t do at home – and then you put the costume on, it’s a whole transformation.
“And then after you finish a day, you take your make-up off and clothes off and it is like taking the character off.”
The loved up pair have known each other for over a decade and attended the same acting school in Queensland.

The happy couple stayed on the show until 2023, when they left Summer Bay to travel the world before settling in London.
However, in March 2025, the pair returned briefly to Home and Away, delighting fans of the show.
