Yellowstone spin-off confirms huge season 2 update before first series has even aired
Yellowstone spin-off The Madison has already had an exciting update on its second season before a single episode has aired.
Slated to release in 2026, the modern Western drama will star Michelle Pfeiffer and Patrick J. Adams and follows the McIntosh family, a wealthy clan from New York City who move to a ranch in central Montana.
Production on the first season began back in 2024, but fans have still yet to see any footage from the series created by Taylor Sheridan, nor has an exact release date been confirmed.
Despite leaving fans in the dark, it has now reportedly been confirmed that the second season has already finished filming.
Country music and culture outlet Whiskey Riff made the report after cast member Elle Chapman posted the update to her Instagram Stories.
Sharing a sneak peek at some of the cast on set, she wrote: “And that’s a wrap on Season 2. Heart is full.”
Her post lines up with reports that filming for The Madison’s second season began in October, though this would make for a very quick turnaround for production.
It’s possible that Chapman is referring to wrapping her scenes only, but, as her character Paige McIntosh is a central role in the series, it’s likely she’s talking about the season as a whole.
Her update follows reports that Hollywood star Kurt Russell was heading to Dallas, Texas to shoot scenes for the series.
As this was confirmed in November 2025, it’s speculated that Russell may only be joining for the second season, though it’s possible he also shot scenes for season one as well.
Fans are currently in the dark about further plot details for The Madison beyond the initial synopsis, with any leaks and secrets from the set remaining under wraps.
It’s also unclear how the series will connect with the wider Yellowstone universe beyond also being set on a ranch in Montana.
There are no names from the flagship drama currently attached to the spin-off, so there’s a chance it could remain a standalone project in the vein of Sheridan’s crime dramas Landman and Tulsa King.
However, there’s also a possibility the series’ Montana setting could open the gates for appearances from the Duttons in the future.
Alongside Pfeiffer, Adams, Russell and Chapman, The Madison will also star Danielle Vasinova, Ben Schnetzer, Beau Garrett and Amiah Miller.
