A New Yellowstone Update Confirms Taylor Sheridan Is Officially Making Franchise History
The Madison will follow Stacy Clyburn (Pfeiffer), who moves to Montana’s Madison River Valley, a relatively short distance from where Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Kayce Dutton’s (Luke Grimes) Yellowstone offshoots will unfold. The Madison characters have no reported ties to the family. However, some fans believe Stacy’s New York clan are descendants of Elizabeth Strafford (Michelle Randolph) from 1923.
Yellowstone’s The Madison Spinoff Has Wrapped Filming For Season 2
As of writing, many details about The Madison’s story remain under wraps, as do the specifics about its release. However, the series received an early renewal for its sophomore run, with filming for The Madison Season 2 beginning midway through 2025. Furthermore, there’s been another huge update about the Yellowstone spinoff ahead of its Season 1 premiere.
According to a now-expired Instagram post from cast member Elle Chapman, who will play Stacy Clyburn’s daughter, Paige McIntosh, filming for The Madison Season 2 has reportedly wrapped. Oddly, the development comes before any concrete information about what to expect from Season 1, other than a few story details, with production for Season 2 happening swiftly.
However, the series was created by Yellowstone executive producer Taylor Sheridan, who acts as a creator, writer, and showrunner for the production. Much like his roles on other shows like Yellowstone and Landman, Sheridan holds much of The Madison’s creative control. Yellowstone’s director and executive producer, Christina Alexandra Voros, is also working on The Madison in similar roles.
The Madison’s Production Schedule Is Making Yellowstone History
While it’s unclear how the release for The Madison Seasons 1 and 2 will play out now that the second installment has wrapped its production, Sheridan’s new series is already making Yellowstone franchise history. It’s the first time the franchise has taken this kind of risk on a production, completing filming for the second season before fans view the first.
There have been significant production gaps between seasons of Yellowstone and its spinoffs, sowing controversy among eager fans. 26 months, over two years, passed between the first and second season of the Prohibition-era Yellowstone spinoff, 1923. However, what troubled fans even more was the gap between the final segments of Yellowstone Season 5, with 22 months between the installments.
What has likely bolstered The Madison’s speedy turnaround is Sheridan’s new production campus in Texas, which became one of the largest film and television campuses in the state when he erected it in August 2025. Production for many of the executive producer’s upcoming shows has utilized the campus or locations around the area, including Landman, Lioness, and The Madison itself.
With a more cohesive space to complete production, it makes sense that The Madison, one of Sheridan’s first series to be hosted at the campus, has moved along more seamlessly than other shows. Hopefully, that bodes well for other series that are currently in the pipeline, including Beth and Rip’s (Cole Hauser) spinoff, tentatively titled The Dutton Ranch.
