Ice T’s Fin Tutuola Made an Epic Return to the SVU Squad in the Law & Order Crossover

This story contains spoilers from the January 2026 Law & Order and SVU crossover event.

As Law & Order Thursdays return to NBC with an action-packed two-hour Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit crossover event, fans couldn’t be happier to celebrate Ice T being back in the squadroom as the beloved Sgt. Fin Tutuola.

How to Watch

Watch Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Thursdays at 9/8c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

The Law & Order and SVU crossover event was in no shortage of action as Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and her elite unit teamed up with Jessica Brady (Maura Tierney) and the passionate 2-7. Throughout the crossover, the detectives investigated a black market baby farm being financed by a eugenics-focused white supremacist with millions invested in the human trafficking scheme.

As the squads tackled this mind-boggling case, viewers were happy to see Fin Tutuola back at the precinct after the seasoned detective recently took some time off to process his trauma from SVU Season 27’s premiere, when he was hospitalized after a brutal attack. Benson has been supportive of Fin’s recovery process this season, and as her steadfast sergeant and mentor to many, he’s set up the squad room for success even when he’s not weighing in on the latest case.

Sgt. Odafin "Fin" Tutuola (Ice T) sits in shadows on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Episode 2712.

But it was all hands on deck during SVU and Law & Order’s two-hour crossover event, sparking Fin Tutuola’s triumphant return. Here’s what happened:

Fin Tutuola is back on job as he tracked down a lead during the Law & Order crossover

When a shocking murder led to the discovery of a human trafficking scheme, Fin wasted no time tracking down the drivers responsible for picking up the victim, a Ukrainian woman named Nadia, who had recently been pregnant. Fin soon updated Benson and the detectives after learning that Nadia had been flown to the U.S. from the Ukraine, giving them a helpful lead in making sense of the mind-boggling murder.

The detectives then found a facility wherein women were being trafficked and forced to become surrogates, leading the squads to eventually realize the sinister case they were working with. After discovering the baby farm had financial connections to a white supremacist group, the squads were led to an abandoned warehouse and shed, which contained a concerning stock of firearms and explosives, one of which decided to go off right after the squads made their shocking discovery.

After the squads barely survived the horrific explosion, Benson was scratching her head for any connection between the baby farm and the hate group, reaching out to her dear friend in the Organized Crime Control Bureau for any help on the matter. Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) pulled through, giving the squads a lead for an informant who may be able to help.

Fin Tutuola and Law & Order‘s Detective Theo Walker were a dynamite duo

Sgt. Odafin "Fin" Tutuola (Ice T) and Det. Theo Walker (David Ajala) walk together on a sidewalk on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Episode 2712.

Knowing they could get anyone to talk, Benson and Brady entrusted Fin and 2-7 newbie Detective Theo Walker (David Ajala) with the task of connecting with Stabler’s off-book informant, a mechanic named A.J. who dabbled in black market smuggling. After arriving at A.J.’s garage, Fin introduced himself and Walker as “friends of Stabler,” getting a cold shoulder from the informant.

Fin and Walker encouraged A.J. to open up about recent activity on the market, but A.J. expressed no interest in speaking to the authorities, admitting he’d only maybe speak to Stabler. Upon mention of his former squad room buddy, Fin leveled with A.J., reminding him of a favor Stabler did for him a while back.

“Elliot says if you help us with this one, you’re square,” Fin explained, an enticing enough offer for A.J. to pipe up about recent black market activity and provide a name of a white supremacist to the detectives.

Once again, Fin proved that when he’s on a case, little time is wasted as he tracked down each lead with the impressive skill that only someone with his lengthy tenure could pull off. With Fin and Walker’s help, the squads gained the lead they needed to make an arrest and secure justice once and for all.
