EastEnders confirms when Joel Marshall’s trial begins in advanced spoilers
EastEnders has confirmed when Joel Marshall’s trial begins, as the BBC soap revisits the dark misogyny storyline. As a reminder, Joel was arrested for brutally attacking Vicki Fowler after she called him out for his continued attitude towards women.
He is planning to plead not guilty, which has left Vicki concerned about how things will play out.
We’ll all be able to see how it plays it out from Wednesday, 28 January, as that’s when the trial begins.
And it won’t be done and dusted in one episode, as the courtroom scenes will continue on the Thursday.

EastEnders showrunner Ben Wadey recently teased the trial scenes and Vicki’s other ongoing storyline, stating: “After the misogyny story last year, where Joel was arrested, we’ve got his trial coming up, so we’re going to see Joel again as he faces the consequences of his actions.
“He’s pleading not guilty, and I think everyone’s struggling with why on earth he’d put everyone through a trial.
“Vicki’s really going through the wringer of that. And Vicki, who wants to be committed so badly to Ross, but associates Ross now with everything that happened with Joel, and Vicki’s eye has been wandering slightly towards Zack. So we’ve got a big, soapy love triangle in the mix.”
