B&B Comings & Goings: Lisa Yamada Out as Luna Dies – Soap Opera Digest

The November 20 episode of Bold and Beautiful ended with a startling cliffhanger as escaped convict Luna tried to make a run for freedom and wound up being hit by a car — and when the subsequent episode picked up on November 21, Lieutenant Baker was informing the Spencer family that Luna had died instantly after being struck by the vehicle, seemingly bringing a definitive end to Lisa Yamada’s Daytime Emmy-winning run on the soap.
Going Out With a Bang
Yamada made her debut back in September 2023 when the character of Luna Nozawa was first introduced to B&B. Although initially an innocent young Forrester intern in a chaste relationship with RJ Forrester (Joshua Hoffman), Luna’s storyline soon took a dark turn. It was revealed that she was a manipulative schemer, tampering with a paternity test so it would appear that Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) was her biological father. She also murdered Tom (Clint Howard) and Hollis (Hollis Chambers) to help keep her secret, and framed her own mother, Poppy (Romy Park), for the crime! Luna then abducted and plotted to kill Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) until her plan came to a screeching halt, and she was thrown in prison.
Her descent into madness made a little more sense once it was revealed that her real father was Finn (Tanner Novlan), which made the notorious villain Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) her grandmother. With the charges against her dropped, Luna was determined to be a part of her father’s life, and when Steffy stood in the way, Luna made every effort to eliminate Steffy as an obstacle. However, in attempting to shoot Steffy, Luna wound up being shot herself and was believed dead. However, her other grandmother, Li (Naomi Matsuda), had spirited her out of the hospital to nurse her back to health in the hopes of giving her a second chance.

Unfortunately, Luna used that second chance to ramp up her obsession with Will (Crew Morrow) and got the poor guy so blackout drunk that he had no idea she’d crawled into his bed to have sex with him. Later, revealing her pregnancy, Luna was confident that bearing a Spencer heir was enough to keep her out of prison. She was wrong and got locked up again until she managed to make her escape in a laundry cart to make her way back to Will. But he still wanted nothing to do with her, and she tearfully revealed she’d had a miscarriage before taking off into the night and eluding the authorities until she met her end.
Yamada took home the Daytime Emmy Award in the newly created Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Series category at the 2025 ceremony for her work on B&B, and her star is most definitely on the rise. The actress can next be seen playing Amber in the upcoming Legally Blonde prequel series Elle, slated to premiere on Amazon Prime in 2026. But, of course, given how, in daytime, death is often just a state of mind (especially if your character is related to the death-defying Sheila!), it’s entirely possible that Luna might one day resurface on B&B again — or that Yamada would pop back up as a Luna look-alike.
