It’s official: Bold and Beautiful really is saying good-bye to Luna Nozawa, the cunning villainess played by Daytime Emmy-winner Lisa Yamada. The actress confirmed her exit on Instagram on November 21, where she captioned a carousel of photos chronicling her time on the show with a farewell message to fans.

The Good-Bye Girl

In her message, Yamada wrote, “so many tears shed, blood spilled, friendships formed, and memories made on @boldandbeautifulcbs. what a ride it’s been! hope you enjoyed the adventures <3 #LUNAtic4ever.”

The actress’s post came on the same day that her character’s death was announced on the show after escaped convict Luna was struck by a car while attempting to elude the authorities chasing after her. And while many viewers were expecting Luna to resurface — after all, she was pronounced dead earlier in the year, but it was eventually revealed that her grandmother Li (Naomi Matsuda) secretly nursed her back to health after she was shot — Yamada’s words of farewell seem to contradict that possibility.

Yamada made her B&B debut in September 2023 as Luna, who originally appeared to be sweet and mild-mannered. Soon, however, Luna’s true colors rose to the surface, and she was revealed to be a two-time murderer who proceeded to take Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) hostage. Recalling the dramatic shift in her character’s storyline, Yamada shared with Soap Opera Digest back in February, “The writers and Brad [Bell, executive producer/head writer], they keep their ideas pretty close to the vest and me and my castmates — and the crew and the hair and makeup team — we all had theories on who the killer was. I’ve been playing  such a sweet girl for so long, I was like, “Okay, there are so many like other contenders, I can definitely rule myself out of this one!” And then I got a script one day and I’m, like, drugging Steffy and kissing Bill [Don Diamont]. I was like, ‘Oh my God, it was me this entire time!’ It was a shock, and it was definitely the talk of the town on set! But I love playing darker characters and I’m really lucky because I basically get to play two different roles on the show. I totally leaned into it. I was like, ‘Hey, if I get to be the murderer, then I’m gonna go full-out!’”

The actress’s work earned her rave reviews from fans of the show, and in October, she took home the very first Daytime Emmy awarded in the Outstanding Emerging Talent category. While still filming at B&B, she also nabbed a plum role in Amazon Prime’s highly anticipated Legally Blonde prequel, Elle, in which she will play the role of Amber.

Lawrence Saint-Victor (Carter) was among the first to comment on Yamada’s Instagram post, writing, “You’re an absolute warrior!!! To carry story the you way did, and command the screen is nothing short of amazing. To play the innocent ingenue, then the evil villain, to the broken character that just wants to be loved….. Chefs Kiss!! You’re amazing! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️”

Also weighing in was Laneya Grace, who plays Electra, the girlfriend of Will Spencer (Crew Morrow), who became the subject of Luna’s unwanted and unhealthy romantic obsession. Grace wrote, “come home the kids miss you 💔,” to which Yamada playfully replied, “don’t get too comfortable sweetheart.”
