Coronation Street stars tease Becky’s downfall as they share Corriedale spoiler
Coronation Street stars Vicky Myers and Sydney Martin have teased what’s ahead for the Swains, amid villain Becky Swain’s possible downfall, and Betsy and Lisa growing closer

We could see the downfall of Coronation Street villain Becky Swain pretty soon, two cast members have teased.
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Vicky Myers and Sydney Martin discussed their excitement about the Emmerdale and Corrie crossover, dubbed Corriedale. They also teased a shift in Lisa Swain and daughter Betsy’s dynamic, as the mother and daughter grow closer.
With that, Vicky hinted Lisa begins to question her ex in upcoming scenes, amid her devastating split from Carla Connor. With Carla having tried to expose Becky’s sinister ways and failing, there’s also Kit Green who is onto her after DI Costello’s attack.
But currently, Becky’s daughter Betsy doesn’t suspect a thing, with Lisa also being there for Becky after an apparent death threat. Fans have to remember that Becky apparently died four years ago, leaving Betsy and Lisa grief-stricken.
Her return from the dead and tale of witness protection rocked them, and what is a very complicated matter for the family has left Lisa in the middle. But it seems things escalate, and Becky may be about to be rumbled.
Sydney, who plays Betsy, told us “It ramps up quite a lot.” Lisa actress Vicky agreed, telling us: “From Lisa’s perspective, question marks are being raised and it heats up quite a lot, with the manipulation.
“Becky is absolutely the puppet master and there are cracks starting to appear. Things don’t quite add up. Lisa is sort of starting to question a few things and it’s very difficult, the dynamic, because of where they are at at that point.”
Sydney and Vicky have so much praise for their co-star Amy Cudden, who plays Becky. Sydney said: “Amy has been fabulous and the furthest from Becky you can imagine.” Vicky added: “She’s beautiful.”
After the confirmation that the trio would be in the crossover episode, Vicky told us that it’s the events prior, and something that happens involving all of them, that sets things in motion, and intertwines them with the crossover. She explained: “Something happens and they have no other choice really other than to go and leave Weatherfield.

“So they are on their way to get the ferry from Hull, that’s how they end up in Yorkshire.” This comment alone is somewhat of a Corriedale spoiler, as it reveals how they become involved in the episode and where it all unfolds.
The pair remained super coy about the episode though, but they’re excited for fans to see it. Sydney did praise the growing friendship between Betsy and Lisa though.
She said: “There’s so much going on, but our relationship on the show, we have had some beautiful scenes where you see a shift in their dynamic. They’re almost like friends which is really nice, amongst all the chaos you have pockets of beautiful moments.
“Since we started their relationship has been a massive journey, so to have these scenes. They’ve both grown up a bit and they see eye to eye a bit. It’s been really nice to play.” Vicky was touched by this before agreeing.
She shared: “We’ve always seen the Swain family, pre-Becky, grieving, and then they became the Connor-Swains. Then obviously there was the bomb of Becky coming back so we’ve never really seen these two women, mother and daughter, without the weight of angst or grief.
“This fractured relationship that came about from 20 years of Lisa and Becky being together and that slow coercion and manipulation, so it’s been nice to do that.” Vicky also revealed how much she’s enjoyed celebrating soap with the crossover, as she and Sydney shared behind-the-scenes secrets.
Vicky told us: “I’m delighted this is happening, and that soaps are being celebrated in this way and the talent we have across both soaps are being championed and challenged and we’ve come out on top. It’s brilliant for the people behind-the-scenes, the ones who don’t get to do this, being celebrated in this way.

“I’m chuffed for them.” Sydney went on: “We had crew for Corrie and Emmerdale, both teams, so it was nice to be in the makeup room, and I felt at home, away from home.” Vicky added: “It was like a school trip!
“I took a mirrorball and it was about two in the morning, me and Sally [Carman-Duttine] were in the trailer and had a Christmas disco. It was great. We loved it. You’ve got to do these things.” It’s clear the pair are hoping for more scenes with the Connor-Swain dynamic too.
Vicky confessed that filming with Ryan Connor actor Ryan Prescott and Roy Cropper star David Neilson was “beautiful”, calling them “wonderful people” who are like “two kids on set”. She explained: “There’s always laughter, joy, love and happiness. This year has been a whirlwind, but such a wonderful whirlwind.”
