Coronation Street‘s Todd Grimshaw confronted his abuser Theo Silverton tonight with a very sad outcome. Viewers know that Todd has been in an abusive relationship with Theo for months and has been managing to hide the dangerous situation he’s in from his friends and family.

Last week Todd’s ex-boyfriend Billy Mayhew finally figured out that Theo has been terrorising Todd, with Billy even seeing video footage from inside their flat while at Debbie’s wedding.

Billy then promised to help Todd escape from Theo and offered to drive him back to Weatherfield from the wedding in the minibus along with other wedding guests.

But before they could set off, Theo got into the bus, leaving Todd and Billy with no choice but to act normal.

Then, during last night’s historic Corriedale crossover, the minibus driven by Billy was involved in a multi-vehicle crash.

With Todd already out safely, Billy was left with Theo who decided to trap the vicar further, leaving him to die, while making it seem like he’d done his best to try and save Billy.

Tonight (6 January) Todd consoled Summer in the hospital as a guilty Theo looked on. Summer was then comforted by her friends Asha and Amy, before Theo was called away by a nurse.

Having left the hospital, Todd went home and packed a bag to leave however a knock on the door caused him to hide it.

When Todd answered the door he found a distraught Summer. Consoling her on the couch, the pair reminisced about Paul and Billy, as Todd assured her he wasn’t going anywhere.

At the hospital, Theo spoke with George, who called him a “hero” for trying to save Billy.

Later Theo arrived home and when Summer went to sleep he tried to speak to Todd who was backing away from him.

Theo said he’d tried everything he could to save Billy however Todd informed him he’d seen the unedited video footage from their flat showing evidence of the abuse.

Todd then explained he had planned to leave Theo with Billy’s help.

A desperate Theo then tried to plead with Todd, saying he’d do anything not to lose him.

Todd told him: “What you did was brave and I believe you have goodness in you but why are you always so horrible to me?”

“Because I love you,” Theo answered before telling Todd that he and Summer need him now.

When Todd asked him to stop being so horrible, Theo told him: “I promise. Don’t give up on me, I love you.”

Will Todd ever find the help he needs to finally get free from Theo?
