General Hospital’s Josh Swickard on if Willow’s Case Will Break Chase & Brook Up
General Hospital fans are watching tensions rise as Chase becomes more determined than ever to defend his ex-wife, Willow. But will his fixation on proving Willow didn’t shoot Drew create friction at home with his current wife, Brook Lynn, especially now that he’s questioning Michael’s alibi? Actor Josh Swickard, who plays Chase, opened up about his character’s mindset and whether fans should worry.
Josh Swickard thinks ‘Chase and Brook Lynn can get through anything’ in General Hospital
Speaking with Soap Opera Digest, Josh Swickard talked about his decision to help Willow, and how, according to him, it makes sense.
Willow was Chase’s “big first love,” so he’s naturally protective, even while trying to stay “objective” as a cop. Swickard feels she’s alone in this case and wants every possibility explored before she’s blamed. He said, “Chase is always the guy going, ‘I get those decisions. I got you.’ That’s a beautiful thing when it comes to his marriage to Brook Lynn… He’s just this ever-forgiving guy, and I think sometimes that gets him in trouble, like maybe it’s doing now.”
Chase believes Willow didn’t shoot Drew because his “savior complex” is kicking in. After seeing her survive so much trauma, he views her as a “good person” and wants the police to consider every angle before sending her to prison.
When asked if this could affect Chase and Brook Lynn’s marriage, Swickard denied. He believes they’ve overcome enough to fully trust each other. He said, “I would bet on their marriage any day, the marriage between Chase and Brook Lynn. They’ve been through so much, and they’ve had to flesh out so much that their communication is really solid. I don’t think anything will rock the boat… So, we’ll see what happens, but I would like to think that Chase and Brook Lynn can get through anything.”
He says the couple always communicates well, and Brook knows Chase fights for the people he cares about. Swickard added that he loves seeing General Hospital portray a “mature” relationship instead of the usual jealousy and drama.
