Law & Order: Special Victims Unit returns Thursday, January 8 at 9/8c on NBC and next day on Peacock.
On January 6, the stars of Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit converged in a real-life crossover event in New York City in celebration of the 25th season of the original Law & Order show — and nobody looked more dapper than the man who’s brought Odafin Tutuola to life for the past two-and-a-half decades.
The SVU star’s fit was captured in a video shared on the official NBC Law & Order Instagram account that same day.
Decked out in a Gucci jacket and a matching Gucci belt as part of his all-black ensemble, the 67-year-old actor and rapper looked fantastic as he was caught throwing up confetti in celebration of his sister show’s big anniversary.
“Ice T understood the assignment at the Law & Order 25th Anniversary Party!” read the Instagram video’s caption.
The star-studded event, which took place at Casa Cipriani New York in Lower Manhattan, played host to an evening filled with celebration — and one unforgettable reunion between two of the most iconic stars of the Law & Order universe. Mariska Hargitay of SVU and Sam Waterston, who starred on Law & Order as Manhattan District Attorney Jack McCoy for years.

Of course, the event served as not only a tip of the cap to Law & Order‘s impressive 25-season milestone, but as a precursor to one of the biggest television events of 2026: the can’t-miss two-hour crossover event that will see the worlds of Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU collide!
When is the 2026 Law & Order crossover event?

Good news: Law & Order Thursdays are returning — and marking the end of its winter hiatus in the biggest way possible. On Thursday, January 8, beginning at 8/7c on NBC, fans will be treated to an epic two-hour crossover event. Your favorite stars across both shows will be out in full force as they team up in one of the biggest midseason premieres yet.
So, what should fans expect?

According to a recent TV Insider conversation with Law & Order showrunner Rick Eid, the vision for the crossover “is to have many characters from both shows in both hours, so it feels more like a movie than a handoff to a second show.”
