Law & Order: SVU Season 27 has seen some significant changes in the cast and characters. Some beloved characters have left, while several others joined. Among them is Kelli Giddish, who plays Sergeant Amanda Rollins.

Rollins had to return to the SVU team after her unit was overhauled, which she thinks the new Chief is responsible for. The new Chief, Kathryn Tynan, played by Noma Dumezweni, is someone Rollins does not trust and has been keeping an eye on so that she doesn’t do teh same thing to the SVU team.

While talking to TV Insider, Giddish revealed her character’s apprehensions toward the chief and stated:

“I’m so suspicious of her and it’s like a tidal wave coming and she can’t stop it. I don’t think she likes that feeling one bit.”

Giddish returned to the team in Episode 4 of Law & Order: SVU Season 27. Her character, Amanda Rollins, was working with the Manhattan Intelligence Unit. However, she had to return to the SVU team after Tynan relocated all of the members of the Unit. Therefore, Rollins does not trust her and is sure that she was trying to pull something similar with Benson and the SVU team, as she offered her promotion.

Furthermore, she is more suspicious of Tynan due to the arrival of the new Detective Jake Griffin, who also joined the team at the beginning of Law & Order: SVU Season 27. Griffin’s father was Tynan’s partner, and they have known each other for a while, which brings Griffin under Rollins’ radar as well. Explaining Rollins’ take on Griffin to TV Insider, Giddish stated:

“I think she’s got one eye on him, but I think he’s part of the team and she very much accepts them as that. But I think if he makes a comment that would otherwise be dismissed, she kind of clocks it – if it kind of rubs her the wrong way or something like that. I don’t think she’s holding his feet to the fire about it, but I think she definitely clocks it and remembers things.”

So far, Griffin has shown no signs of being a spy for Tynan and has also become a part of the SVU team after struggling a bit initially. While not spying on Benson, Griffin finds out more about his father, who might not have a good reputation, as he thought his father had.

Furthermore, in the interview, Giddish further teased details about the upcoming episodes of Law & Order: SVU Season 27 and revealed:

“We’re going into this really, really strong script right now. I’m shooting the creepiest scene. It’s another one-on-one scene. I’m shooting that next week, and I’m so looking forward to it.”
